Coarse fishing clubs in Cornwall - Roche Angling ClubThe Roche Angling Club caters for both the pleasure angler as well as the match angler as it controls the fishing rights on 6 pools in the St. Austell area. These pools contain many specimen fish and regular matches are organised on selected waters throughout the year. Unfortunately they are not able to offer day permits, membership details can be obtained from the Membership Secretary by sending a S.A.E. to the Membership Secretary.

There is an active game section that arranges fly fishing competitions on commercial trout fisheries and E.A. reservoirs. As well as freshwater fishing there is also a sea fishing section which holds a number of beach competitions and, provided that a sufficient number of members make a booking, boat fishing trips can be organised.

Club Waters:

Bilberry Pool:
The first pool to which the newly formed Roche Angling Club acquired the fishing rights, in 1964. Today the species that can be caught are Carp to 20lbs, Tench to 5 lbs, Roach, Bream, Perch to 3 lbs, Brown Trout to 6 lbs and Eels.
Wheal Rashleigh:
The largest pool that the Roche Angling Club has the fishing rights on, about 9.5 acres in area. This pool now produces carp to over 30lbs, tench to 6 lbs, perch to 4 lbs, pike into double figures and large eels. There are also a few large trout.
Walden Pond:
This pool holds golden rudd, perch, carp, tench, pike and eels and is connected to Wheal Rashleigh by an underground pipe.
Large Treskilling:
This was a working china clay pit until the late sixties. Since that time there has been a good stock of roach and a few brown trout. The club acquired the fishing rights in the mid eighties when they introduced tench and carp and bream. In more recent years pike have been stocked which have been caught into double figures. There are also some good sized eels in this water.
Small Treskilling:
The club took the lease on the pool in the early seventies when they introduced tench and a few carp as well as roach.
Trerice Pool:
Always held good numbers of large perch as well as a good stock of roach, rudd and some large brown trout. Tench have also been stocked and there are also some eels.
